Josette & Me

Here is my director Josette Antomarchi and I during the rehearsal of my Medicine Show today.

My wife and I have been working with Josette ever since we met at the Guthrie Theater in 2001.  Rosie and I were performing as chickens and Josette’s costume was made entirely of feathers.

Come out and see the show at Caponi Art Park this Sunday, June 14.

The Nest is Empty Again / #next364 #rednose

Empty Nest

This picture was taken by photographer Marc Norberg.  We are standing on the far side of Witchwood Stage that has been Rosie and my home at the Minnesota Renaissance Festival for over 30 years.

I’m posting this picture today because this is the first day that Rosie and I are empty nesters again.  Gabriel our youngest son left yesterday morning to spend the summer street performing in Colorado.

Happy Trails Gabe…

The Protest Clown / #next364 #rednose

#1 Protest

Here I am this morning with my van full of all the art for the protest march to the MN State Capital against Climate Change.

#2 Protest

Here I am this morning getting in my van loaded with protest art on my way to the march.

#3 Protest

Here I am in the march. It’s amazing how all that art fit in my van.

Gabe goes on-the-road… / #next364 #rednose

Gabe's Clown Car

Gabe’s car is packed and he’s ready to head out for Colorado in the morning.  I wasn’t sure if he was going to keep the red nose I secretly attached to his car when he was sleeping, but it proudly still remains mounted on his front grill.

I wish you a safe journey Gabriel.

Love Dad

Red Nose Writers

red nose writers

Pictured above is my Thursday writer’s group.  On Red Nose Day I came with a box of Emergency Clown Noses and passed them out to the group.

In the center next to me is our teacher Rox Sadovsky who is the midwife of all the stories hidden deep inside each of us.

Rox Rocks!

Three Dancing Lloyds / #next364 #rednose

the three lloyds pic

This picture was taken by photographer Marc Norberg.  It was part of a photo session at the Southern Theater leading up to our show, The Vaudevillian. I was commissioned by the Southern to write the show in collaboration with playwright Kevin Kling, as part of their 100 year celebration.  The cast was Rosie and I, Arsene Dupin, and Scott Crosby with his band The Medicine Show.

Great Memories,

The Mini-Apple Circus / #next364 #rednose

Mini-Apple Circus

Here are a couple of pictures that photographer Layne Kennedy took of Gabe performing in the Mini-Apple Circus at a benefit that I produced for our neighbor Gabriel Grieling after he was seriously injured in a school bus accident in 2009.

The Mini-Apple Circus is a show that Rosie and I created as an after school project throughout Gabe’s childhood.

Also pictured are his friends Lucy and Lilly who played clowns.  This is the only time that Gabe ever played the ringmaster in the show.

What fond memories…  *<[:o)
