Colorado Memories / #next364 #rednose

BD #1Photo by Rosie Cole:

This is on my birthday 30-years ago today. I’m celebrating with Rosie, holding a chocolate éclair with lit candles in the back of our van, while on-the-road in Colorado.

BD #2Photo by Lloyd Brant:

I took this picture of Rosie in our campsite at the Colorado Renaissance Festival.  In those days you could camp deep in the woods with no neighbors within eyesight. It was like living on Gilligan’s Island.

BD #3Photo by unknown:

Here are Rosie and I performing in the Celestial Seasoning’s Pavilion at the Colorado Renaissance Festival. It was an ideal stage that provided cool shade from the hot sun, and dry shelter from the rain.

Rosie and I were young performers in paradise.

Grant Submission Today / #next364 #rednose

Arrow Through Head

I just finished my grant application to the Elizabeth George Foundation for emerging playwrights.

The project is to adapt my children’s story “The Land of Clowns” to the stage and eventually the circus ring.  The story is about where clowns came from, why they are here, and why they now live in circus tents.

The most exciting part is that Kevin Kling has agreed to collaborate with me on the project.  We plan to workshop it at Open Eye Figure Theater over the April Fools weekend in 2016.

Wish me luck,

THE VAUDEVILLIAN / #next364 #rednose

The Contract- VaudevillianPhoto by Marc Norberg:

I’m posting a scene from THE VAUDEVILLIAN for the third day in a row.  Pictured here is Arsene, Rosie, and I in The Contract scene.  We were all playing the ghosts of the original cast of vaudevillians who first performed at The Southern Theater when they opened their doors a century earlier.

What first caught my imagination when I decided to write the play was that there was only one woman in the original show, and her name was Rose.
